Very Hot This Weekend into Next Week, Tropical System Rain Stays Mostly to Our South

Partly to mostly sunny days and hot, steamy afternoons will be the rule across Dillon, Marion and Marlboro counties today right into the first half of next week. That will make for a very hot weekend. Highs today will be 90 to 94, then 94 to 99 each day from Saturday to Wednesday. We could see a 100 degree high temperature in places, especially Monday through Wedensday. There will be a chance of a scattered storm or two popping up each day, but many spots will stay dry. It is looking like more widespread storms could finally arrive sometime late Wednesday into Thursday. I'll keep an eye on that and see if that idea gets more certain over the coming days.

The tropical disturbance just north of Bahamas is a bit more organized this morning and a hurricane recon plane has found a closed circulation during its invest flight this morning. That should be enough to be classified a tropical depression today as it moves toward the Florida and Georgia coastline. It is not out of the question it could briefly reach tropical storm strength before landfall tonight. Unfortunately, most of the rain with this system will stay south of us, but it could help to bump up the chance of a scattered storm or two. Here is a satellite loop of the system from Colorado State University:
