Our main weather story stays the heat for the next several days. The three hottest days of this stretch will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We should knock a slight edge off the heat later next week, but still of course stay at summertime levels.
Partly sunny and hot the rest of this afternoon and tomorrow. Highs for Dillon, Marion and Marlboro counties in the middle 90s. A few spots may scare up a thundershower, but many of us will continue rainfree. This stretch of mainly dry weather and above normal temperatures can be a huge stress on crops, especially the corn. About the same pattern will continue for Monday through Wednesday, but with even more heat. HIghs will be 94 to 99. I am hoping the thunderstorm chances increase a little also, but keep your fingers crossed because my confidence in that is not super high.
The tropical disturbance we've been tracking north of the Bahamas moved onshore in Georgia overnight. It did develop a defined circulation, but thunderstorms and showers never got organized near the center, so it never became an official tropical depression. You can still see it very clearly on the satellite loop below. Check out that spin over eastern Georgia. With the center over land, its ability to strengthen is cut off. It should drift slowly northwestward over Georgia and southernmost South Carolina as it disipates.
