A stalled front along the Carolina coast and a weak area of low pressure along it will combine to fuel scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. Many parts of Dillon, Marion and Marlboro counties will see some very welcome rain. Coverage won't be 100% though, so there will be some unfortunate spots that get little or none. Where the showers and storms do hit, downpours could be heavy. In fact, the NWS has a flood watch out until midnight. It looks like any flooding concerns would limited to localized street flooding. HIghs today 85-89. Lows tonight in the mid 70s.
The chance of storms continues tomorrow, then subsides Sunday into Tuesday. As rain ch;ances lessen, the extreme heat returns. HIgh temperatures by Monday and Tuesday will be back to 97 to 101. Heat index readings will be 105 plus.
Here is a current satellite loop that will show the activity flaring up with the stalled front and low pressure area along the Carolina coast. The National Hurricane Center has mentioned this low pressure area, but gives it no chance of developing into a tropical system.
