Hurricane Beryl Still a Category 5, But Gradual Weakening Expected. Locally, High Heat Returns By Friday and Weekend

After devastating parts of the Windward Islands, Hurricane Beryl strengthened even more to a category 5 storm last night with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. Satellite pictures show the storm is starting to lose a little of its amazing structure this morning and we should see at least gradual weakening. As of 11 am it is still a category 5 storm with max winds of 160 mph. Here is the latest forecast track from the NHC.

Locally, mostly sunny and warm weather today and tomorrow. Highs 88 to 91. Heat and humidity will increase starting on the 4th of July and continue through the holiday weekend. Heat advisories may be needed by Friday or Saturday.
