No major breaks in our dry weather are expected at least through Friday. Mostly sunny days will continue with highs 89 to 93 in Dillon, Marion and Marlboro Counties today, tomorrow and Thursday. You will probably be hearing a lot about extreme heat the next few days across the North East and Mid Atlantic states. Unfortunately, that heat will begin shifting southward by the weekend. High temperatures here will be in the middle 90s Friday, and the upper 90s this weekend and early next week. Some of us could see 100 degrees for highs starting this weekend. The chance of a scattered afternoon storm or two may increase slightly this weekend and early next week, but coverage will probably be sparse. The overall lack of rain and the increasing heat will add stress on crops, especially corn, so this is not a good pattern for agriculture especially.
A weak tropical disturbance may try to develop northeast of the Bahamas and move toward the Southeast US by later in the week. The chance of it developing into anything substantial is slim though, and what moisture it does generate will probably stay mostly confined to the coast or to our south.
Here is the GFS computer model forecast total rain through Friday:

And even into next week, with the slightly better chance of scattered storms, total rain amouts are generally 0.25 inch or less. This is the GFS total rain through Monday at 5 pm.

Elsewhere in weather news, the tropics in the Gulf of Mexico are getting attention. A disturbance in the southern Gulf is not all that well organized as of yet, but could become a tropical storm tomorrow. It is forecasted to move into Mexico, but it's effects will extend into Texas with heavy rains and gusty winds. Tropical storm warnings are up for the SE Texas coast and northern Mexican coast.
